People with epilepsy can lead full, active lives and usually return to normal activity after a seizure. However, in some cases, a seizure becomes an emergency. You should call 911 if:  The person is injured The seizure lasts more than 5 minutes or one seizure is followed by another seizure The person does not regain consciousness after the seizure You believe this is the first seizure this person has had The person is pregnant or has diabetes The person has had a seizure in water
