Tape the extension tubing to secure it before removing the old dressing. Open the dressing package and remove the antiseptic hand gel. Set this aside. Open the outer wrap of the dressing kit for the mask and sterile gloves. Put on the mask. Put the sterile gloves aside for now. If someone else is doing the dressing for you, they also need to wear a mask.
